And the answer, of course, is that there isn't a reason. Sometimes artists don't want to be identified as doing this sort of thing and other times this sort of music isn't documented very well. Not like mainstream music.

I can think of something more useful to focus on. Something I won't have to question in every thread, thus giving me more time to make shows.

Occasionally, I see visitors on the 'who's online' page reporting broken videos. Those reports aren't emailed to me, so....

What I need is for someone to go through them (starting with the oldest) and pointing out to me the dead ones so I can delete them. I usually do this myself when I get bored at 4 am, but it'd be nice if it could be said that the video section was purged of dead videos.

There'd be no debates with this. Videos either play or they don't. And show 231 and Tyro's podcast would arrive that much sooner.

Just a side note here: This song has never been played on any show including Dr. Demento. It is not very likely to be played on a show here. So until it is, why are we wasting time looking for an unknown artist?

I did. "Pierre Roberts" is noticeably missing from it...

Taken from two different sources. - A web site of WWSP recordings (archive.org/details/90fm-wwsp). - My own 1980 or 1981 recording off the air from a Philadelphia FM rock station (sorry, I don't remember which one) to reel-to-reel. The WWSP recording is more complete and of better quality, so I started with that. It had an annoying squeal at about 6.3kHz so I applied a notch filter. I also fiddled with the volume at the beginning of their clip; it seem like somebody was turning it up every few seconds until they liked the recording volume, so I tried to compensate. Theirs was missing the first few seconds, so I spliced in the missing part from mine and tried to match the volume reasonably well. (I did try to boost the treble on mine but there simply isn't anything there to boost.) Video captured by BB Flashback Express. My portion of the audio was recorded on Realistic Supertape 1.5 mil 1/4" reel-to-reel tape (44-1878A). I don't remember anything about the borrowed recorder. Playback was on a Tandberg model 10X-4, kindly loaned to me by a colleague. Audio Capture was done via Audacity on a Gateway Flextastic Bro 300S (PIII-1000) running Linux Mint 11 LXDE. Sound editor was Cool Edit 2000, sadly no longer available (Cool Edit Pro is now Adobe Audition). Video editor was VirtualDub 1.4.10.

Pierre Roberts is NOT the artist. Get it right or not at all.

As for your video it does not clarify anything or anyone.

I think this track is from 1980 and done by Pierre Roberts since Gosbourne is a dj from Wisconsin and Pierre Roberts is from Pennsylvania from that radio station.

Stavro Arrgolus:

And this is as close as you come to it. A guy on FB in 2013 seemed to know Pierre Roberts was the artist & just wanted to know when the track was made. Anyone who reads this now knows that Roberts could be the artist. Until something more solid is found, that will have to do.

Halfshell:

I have gathered artist is Pierre Roberts a former DJ.

Here is someone on Facebook clarifying the recording date of the song.

He is definitely a dj. www.archive.org/search.php?query=creator%3AGosbourne"

Stavro Arrgolus:

I saw it the first time.

Is "Gosbourne" the artist or just the name of the poster again? A review says he's a 'better dj...', but does that mean he made the track or just played the track as a dj - assuming he is a dj at all? I found this track elsewhere - no artist name. If a name can't be determined, these comments can count as speculation about said artist.

We do this right or not at all.
