Reviews:
Facts:
  • In the Doctor Who special, "The Three Doctors" (1973), the 3rd Doctor's (Jon Pertwee) companion, Jo Grant (Katy Manning), invokes a line from this song when an explanation is attempted to justify the presence in one place of both the 2nd and 3rd Doctors. (Stavro Arrgolus)
  • Yet another Beatles song that contributes to the contrived "Paul is Dead" urban legend. (Stavro Arrgolus)
  • John Lennon's psychedelic classic. According to the song "Glass Onion" from the "White Album", the "walrus" was Paul. But who can be sure.... (Stavro Arrgolus)
  • Song Lyrics:
I am he as you are he as you are me
    And we are all together
See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly

    I'm crying

Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come
    Corporation T-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday
Man, you been a naughty boy, you let your face grow long
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen
I am the walrus, goo goo goo joob

Mister city policeman sitting, pretty little policemen in a
    row
See how they fly like Lucy in the sky, see how they run

    I'm crying, I'm crying

    I'm crying, I'm crying

Yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dog's eye
    Crabalocker fishwife pornographic priestess
Boy, you been a naughty girl, you let your knickers down
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen
I am the walrus, goo goo goo joob

Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun
    If the sun don't come
You get a tan from standing in the English rain
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen
I am the walrus, goo goo goo joob goo goo goo goo joob

    Hexpert textpert choking smokers
Don't you think the joker laughs at you? (Ho ho ho! He he he! Ha ha ha!)
See how they smile like pigs in a sty, see how they snied

    I'm crying

Semolina pilchard climbing up the Eiffel Tower
    Elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna
Man, you should have seen them kicking Edgar Alan Poe
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen
I am the walrus, goo goo goo joob goo goo goo joob
Goo goo goo joob goo goo goo joob
Goo gooooooooooo jooba jooba jooba jooba jooba jooba
    Jooba jooba
    Jooba jooba
    Jooba jooba

(roompa, roompa, stick it up your jumper
roompa, roompa, stick it up your jumper, etc.)

Beatles Rock Band has the lyrics as "oompa, oompa, stick it in your jumper, everybody's got one, everybody's got one."

It is a subliminal made of separate sounds.. It starts out as a sentence, which is the one in the lyrics and with the addition of a myriad of whoops and partial words, that when mixed come out sounding like "everybody smoke pot" .. when done in this manner the censors can not find the words even if they take every single track and try to find those particular words. No one person knows what the sound they are making is going to be mixed to sound like.. No one can testify or rat you out as they don't know.. they are like when a company makes something and they don't want the companies engineering the parts to be able to steal the thing before it is patented then you get just those parts for assembly into a final product. A really sneaky way to avoid detection and not get banned in the process.. Lennon was a really smart guy... as was George Martin.. When asked they had deniability... also as the sound repeats itself they decompose it back to it's primary parts again.. nice trick...

It's said that a chorus of boys chanted the "Stick it up your jumper" bit while another chorus of girls chanted "Everybody's got one" - if you believe that sort of thing. I hear "smoke pot", too. If someone finds an extremely complete version with the BBC recording of "King Lear" in the mix at the end and all the other stuff word for word, I'll add it.

There's a whole jumble at the end. A big lyrical mess was the point of the song, more or less. That's why I added the Wikipedia link that describes it. Somewhere, there's a site that has the whole thing. A while back, I figured if we had these Beatles songs anyway, we should have our own take on them. Where else would you see a Doctor Who reference about this song?

I'm still 530 something posts behind. Oh, well..getting there...

Doesn't he say "Paul Is Dead" at some point?

Yay! This was my 3000th post. As usual, flip and unnecessary..........
